Carruthers and Jackson’s CDO Summer School Inaugurates 500 New Data Leaders

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, 4 September 2024 – Carruthers and Jackson, the global data consultancy, is set to mark the conclusion of its seventh annual Summer School for Data Leaders with an exclusive Graduation Ceremony tomorrow, celebrating the 500 aspiring data leaders who took part in the 2024 course.

The annual free-to-attend 10-week virtual Summer School brings together the future generation of data leaders to learn from Caroline Carruthers and Peter Jackson, two pioneers of the data business, alongside expert speakers from sponsors including Microstrategy, One Data, and Corndel.

A globally recognised phenomenon for nearly a decade, the school has equipped more than 2,500 graduates with the skills and mindset to drive successful data transformations within organisations. The syllabus evolves with the industry, and to ensure the most cutting-edge, timely insights, this year’s guests included high profile Summer School alumni from the likes of Carhartt and the US Coast Guard. Sessions have also evolved with new trends and technologies to focus on pressing issues, such as the changing world of data maturity and navigating the era of AI.

“Data is changing the world, and as more organisations globally embrace digital transformations data professionals are gaining recognition in ways we’ve never seen before,” said Caroline Carruthers, CEO, Carruthers and Jackson. “With demand for data experts skyrocketing across all sectors, Summer School aims to bring the data community together to help spread ideas and empower the next generation of data leaders to ensure the data industry continues to flourish and that data continues to shape the future.”

As one of the largest and fastest-growing communities of data leaders worldwide, Carruthers and Jackson’s Summer School brings together data leaders from across the globe to learn, collaborate, and grow. The 2024 course had a star-studded speaker line up, including Scott Taylor- The Data Whisperer, Kate Strachnyi, founder of DATAcated and guest speakers from each headline sponsors.

“I was thrilled to lead a session at this year’s CDO Summer School about the role of People in data transformations, as the people behind a data strategy make it or break it,” explained Thomas Neal, Commercial Director at award-winning strategic skills and development company, Corndel. “As organisations face increasingly complex data challenges, improved data literacy across every organisation is vital, and at this year’s Summer School we were thrilled to announce a strategic partnership with Carruthers and Jackson to help customers bridge the data literacy skills gap.”

“Summer School is an industry recognised staple in the data calendar,” added Dr. Andreas Böhm, Founder of One Data, a software company revolutionising the way organisations handle and leverage data. “My session focused on how data leaders can be a centre for profit, and vitally important in driving digitalisation in organisations. Through sharing ideas and networking, I believe we are already shifting the perception of the value data leaders bring to organisations.”

“By supporting this course, I feel we are investing in the next generation of data professionals,” said Nick Barth, Senior Sales Engineer at Microstrategy, the largest independent publicly traded analytics and business intelligence company. “In today’s rapidly changing business environment, it’s essential for data professionals to adapt and develop the skills needed to tackle new challenges while maintaining key areas like data ethics and governance.”
